Deep Clean vs. Standard Clean: Which One Does Your Home Need?

Almost every complaint we hear about a previous cleaner comes down to the same misunderstanding: the customer expected a deep clean and paid for a standard one. The two services have genuinely different scopes, and knowing which you need makes the whole experience better.

What a standard clean covers

A standard clean is maintenance. It assumes the home is already at a reasonable baseline and keeps it there — surfaces wiped, floors vacuumed and mopped, bathrooms and the kitchen cleaned, trash out, beds made if you want them made.

It is designed to be efficient and repeatable, which is exactly what you want on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. What it does not include is the slow, detailed work behind and underneath things.

What a deep clean adds

A deep clean is a reset. It takes considerably longer and gets into everything a maintenance visit reasonably skips.

  • Baseboards, door frames, and trim washed by hand
  • Inside cabinets, drawers, and appliance interiors on request
  • Grout scrubbing in showers, tubs, and tiled floors
  • Light fixtures, ceiling fans, vents, and window tracks
  • Behind and underneath movable furniture and appliances
  • Interior wall spot-cleaning for marks and cooking film

How to choose

If nobody has professionally cleaned the home in the last six months, start with a deep clean. It brings the property up to a baseline that a standard clean can then hold cheaply and easily.

If you are already on a regular schedule and the house looks decent between visits, a standard clean is all you need. Most of our recurring customers book one deep clean a year — usually in spring — and standard visits the rest of the time.

Moving in or out, selling, or finishing a renovation? That is always a deep clean, and often pairs with junk removal to get the space genuinely empty first.

Not sure which one fits? Tell us about the property and we will recommend the smaller service if that is genuinely what it needs. CH Cleaning gives free estimates throughout Humboldt County.
